Setting Yourself Up For Success

For many of us, the start of a new year signifies new beginnings, a fresh slate, and an opportunity to grow. I was fortunate enough to enjoy a break over January to refresh and recharge with my family.  Some big things happened, and I took that as a sign that I really needed to take some time out for myself, and so I did.  I was lazy in a really good way; I enjoyed the time and (for a change) I let everything else wait.

Now February has come along - and with it the Lunar New Year, so it’s time to get back to work, which is exciting for me as I really love doing what I do! It is time to officially switch back into work mode, to reset and get into the right frame of mind so that 2021 (the year of the Ox) is my best year yet. Maybe I can call it the year of the Fox?? 

I thought I would share with you the process I use to set myself up for a successful year.

  • Setting intentions. The first thing I do is set my intentions for the month ahead.  I think about what, in 30 days from now, my life and business is going to look, feel and sound like. For me, this month is about reconnecting with my clients and having fun while I get back into the swing of things.

  • Morning ritual. You may recall me talking about my morning ritual, a big part of my morning ritual is keeping a journal, (after a coffee of course!)

I use my journal to set my intention for the day by choosing a mantra for the day, thinking about what would make me happy, listing the top 3 priorities and I also like to write down everything I am grateful for.  Doing this prompts you to actively look for (and remember) those moments during the day.

  • Meditation. I take a few moments each day to meditate, even if it’s only for a few minutes, meditation helps me to get centred. Morning meditation particularly helps me to gain calmness and clarity and helps me to feel more positive about myself and my day ahead. The Quality Mind App is full of meditations that I enjoy.

  • Night ritual. Each night before bed, I place on relaxing music, turn the lights down and again go to my journal. I reflect on todays best moment, top 3 gratitude’s, what I am proud of and a lesson I learnt.

I would love to hear what you do to prepare yourself for success for the year ahead.
