Share Your Value

“For those who have seen the Earth from space, and for the hundreds and perhaps thousands more who will, the experience most certainly changes your perspective. The things that we share in our world are far more valuable than those which divide us.”  Donald Williams

Performance Tip

“The things that we share in our world are far more valuable than those which divide us.” What are some of those things? We’re all human beings. We all breathe. We all eat food, interact, have relationships of one sort or another. We share dreams and desires and vision. Ask any mother, in any country, and they will all say the same thing, that they want for their children happiness, freedom, joy, love and peace.” Ultimately, when it comes down to it, we all want the same things: abundance, peace, happiness, freedom, support, family… love.

As a trainer and performance coach, I have worked within a wide range of industries including athletes, students, business managers, teenagers, those in the fashion industry, finance, healthcare and education, a range of ages and a variety of backgrounds. One of the things which still amazes me is how time and time and time again, when we elicit the core values of a group, the list consistently looks like this: We value abundance, peace, happiness, freedom, support, family… love. There may be variations on the specific word used, ie one group might call it ‘harmony’ and another ‘peace’, yet at the highest level, the things we desire, the things we share in common are similar, and they are certainly much more valuable than the things that divide us.
So what is it that you value? What are the common values you share with your team, your family, your friends and your colleages? And how can you focus on the things you share, to increase your performance and lift up the people around you now?
